Project design
Building on the pilot study, the next phase of research is planned to involve the development and implementation of an innovative and environmentally-friendly vector birth control tool using super-sterile mosquitoes.
Research methods
This study will involve:
Spatial baseline data collection and mapping of the study sites
Social science data collection through observations, interviews and questionnaires
Focus-group discussions and consultative workshops
Ethnography and participatory analysis
Entomological baseline data collection
Analysis of retrospective dengue incidence and morbidity rate
Development, sterilization and release of sterilized male mosquitoes
Monitoring mosquito abundance and egg hatch rate following release
Evaluating impact on dengue incidences in treatment areas
