Policy briefs shared during Research Uptake Meeting in Brazzaville

From the 25th to the 27th of April, WHO TDR jointly organised a Research Uptake Meeting with WHO AFRO to share the findings of the TDR IDRC Research Initiative on Population health vulnerabilities to vector-borne diseases: increasing resilience under climate change conditions in Africa. This meeting was held at the WHO Regional Office in Africa, in the Republic of Congo. To ensure the information was accessible, and delivered in a way that could make a difference, policy briefs were produced and shared.

Health and Climate Colloquium

From 8-10 June, the International Institute for Climate and Society hosted the Health and Climate Colloquium. The purpose of the event was to help build a global community of health practitioners and policymakers that can use climate information as a means to support health delivery and improved outcomes in the context of a changing climate, with a focus on infectious diseases, nutrition and the public health outcomes of meteorological disasters. Attending the event were experts from research institutions, government, UN agencies, development and humanitarian organisations.

Project posters and presentation

In July 2015, the UNICEF/UNDP/World Bank/WHO Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), in collaboration with International Development Research Centre, Canada, and in cooperation with Centre Suisse de Recherche Scientifiques en Cote d'Ivoire, hosted a Scientific Forum for the TDR/IDRC research initiative on Population Health Vulnerabilities to Vector-Borne Diseases: Increasing Resilience under Climate Change Conditions in Africa. To help share the importance of the five research projects, visuals were created for each project.

Project Videos

Coinciding with the Conference of the Parties in Paris (COP21), Research groups C and E, each released a video highlighting their work. These videos were produced by the researchers, together with the WHO Communications team and the TDR VES (vectors, environment and society) team. These videos provide a snapshot of the research being undertaken, the challenges involved and the people close to the project.
