Objective 5

Objective 5 is the capacity development component of the study.

Objective 5 looks at both the researchers and the community groups in which the studies are being conducted. It aims to increase the ability of researchers and communities to assess and minimise the effects of malaria and schistosomiasis. This involves a two-pronged approach:

  1. Research groups and communities will be trained on the ecohealth approach to human health.
  2. Community structures will be created to address challenges associated with malaria and schistosomiasis.

The intended outcomes of this objective are:

  1. To improve community participation in research and development projects.
  2. To create awareness of the impacts of malaria and schistosomiasis on human wellbeing.
