New Master’s student recruited
November 10th, 2015
The project recently recruited Lavinca Achieng, a master’s student from University of Nairobi’s School of Public Health, bringing the total number of master’s students it supports to five. She is tasked with carrying out an analysis of the economic burden of treating malaria in Baringo County in the last quarter of 2015 and first quarter of 2016.
The overall goal of Achieng’s study is to determine the average cost of treating an episode of malaria in Baringo County. Her research is nested in the anthropology component of the project and looks into the socio-economic aspects of malaria and Rift Valley fever (RVF) control and management.
The component, and the project by extension, continues to enjoy the goodwill and support of the local communities, the public administration and the County Ministries of Health, Education and Agriculture. We believe the same sentiments will be extended to Achieng and wish her all the best in her pursuit of knowledge!
