Research Uptake Objectives

The results will be shared through:

• Scientific publications: This will be the primary route of information sharing
• The www.tsetse.org website: This will be used to disseminate project outputs, including an updated version of the model (HAT-trick)
• The SACEMA website www.sacema.org and the SACEMA Quarterly Review of Epidemiology http://sacemaquarterly.com/
• The press office at the University of Stellenbosch and also through the World Health Organization (WHO) bulletin

The project will be registered with the National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA) in: Tanzania, Zimbabwe, South Africa, United Kingdom. The project team is already fully integrated with national control programmes both in Zimbabwe and in Tanzania. The project has strong links with the Pan African Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Campaign (PATTEC) throughout the eastern and southern African Region. These connections will help positively influence these different bodies in their decision-making.

The researchers are using their links with local and national institutions, including district and regional health and agriculture offices, Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) and the Vector & Vector-Borne Diseases Research Institute (VVDBI), and with the Tanzania Government. This is to ensure that they reach national stakeholders in the areas of tsetse and trypanosomiasis control. Individuals and institutions from the health, agriculture, environment and land use planning sectors, in addition to TTRI, already make inputs into committees involved with the design of tsetse and trypanosomiasis control.
